When is a Ford service due?

Ford’s guidance is to service your vehicle at the recommended service interval for your specific model, which helps keep the car at its best and can reduce the risk of costly repairs.

Because service intervals can vary by model/engine/year (and some vehicles follow the car’s service indicator), the most practical rule is:

  • Follow your Ford’s service schedule/service indicator

  • If you’re doing higher mileage or lots of short trips, servicing may be needed more frequently than you expect

If you’re unsure what your car needs next, we can advise once we know your reg and mileage—contact us here to discuss your vehicle's requirements.

What’s included in a Ford service?

Servicing isn’t “one size fits all”. It’s best thought of as levels.

1) Essential / oil & filter-style servicing (a solid baseline)

At Blackhurst, we offer a Ford Essential Service, which includes oil and filter replacement plus essential maintenance checks, as an alternative option outside Ford schedule recommendations (from £209 for cars and £239 for commercial vehicles).

This is often ideal if you want the fundamentals covered and the car checked over.

2) Blackhurst Service Packages (Bronze / Silver / Gold)

We set out what’s included in each of our service packages clearly, so you can choose the right level for your Ford and your mileage.

Bronze Service (core safety + oil service) includes:

  • oil drain & replacement + new oil filter

  • checks of lights, washers/wipers, windscreen and number plates

  • tyres inspected and pressures set, with tread depth reported

  • checks for leaks, belts (excluding cambelt), fluid levels and battery condition

  • visual checks of brakes, exhaust, brake lines and suspension components

Silver Service includes all items from the Bronze Service, but also includes items such as:

  • fitting a new air filter

  • cooling system pressure check

  • road test and additional checks/top-ups

Gold Service (most comprehensive) adds items such as:

  • spark plugs (where fitted)

  • additional brake checks and a new fuel filter (where fitted)

For the full checklist for each level, see our Service Packages page.

We also offer Ford Protect Service & Maintenance Plans designed to help you budget for the cost of servicing your vehicle.

Should you combine Ford servicing with your MOT?

If your Ford is due an MOT soon, many drivers book a service around the same time so any wear items can be picked up early. At Blackhurst, we offer Class 4 (cars) and Class 7 (vans) MOT testing at our Whitchurch garage.
